The Alpha Course

Have you ever paused mid-week and found yourself wondering about the bigger picture? Questions like, “Is there more to life than this?” or “Where do I fit into this world?” are things almost everyone asks at some point. Yet, in our fast-paced lives, finding a safe, unpressured space to talk about these big questions can be incredibly rare.

That is exactly why we are thrilled to invite you to our brand-new Alpha course, launching right here in our community this September.

What is Alpha?

Alpha is an open, warm, and completely informal space to explore the Christian faith. It is not a classroom, it is not a lecture series, and there is absolutely no pressure. Whether you consider yourself a person of deep faith, someone who has not stepped into a church in decades, or a convinced sceptic, you are entirely welcome. Alpha is built around the idea that everyone should be free to explore life’s biggest questions at their own pace, with honesty and without any fear of judgment.

How it works

Every Alpha session follows a simple, relaxed format. We begin by gathering together to enjoy a casual catch-up, followed by a short, engaging video that looks at a specific question around life and faith. After the film, we break into small, friendly discussion groups. This is the heart of Alpha. You can say exactly what you think, ask the hardest questions you have, or simply sit back and listen to others. No question is too hostile, too simple, or too out-of-bounds, and you will never be put on the spot to pray or speak.

Global programme

If you decide to join us, you will be part of a truly global phenomenon. Alpha began as a small initiative in London, but today, millions of people around the world have taken the course. It runs in over 160 countries, has been translated into dozens of languages, and is supported by every major Christian denomination. Millions of people from all walks of life have found Alpha to be a life-changing experience, building lasting friendships while exploring the foundations of faith.

Local meetings

The local weekly meetings are scheduled to begin on Sunday, 20th September at 4:00 pm in the Cotswold Hall. There is an exciting feature planned for this course. Efforts are underway to arrange a concurrent programme for children. The goal is to provide engaging activities for younger family members at the same time as the Alpha sessions. This is intended to make it as easy as possible for parents to attend together, knowing that there is a dedicated space for the whole family to be welcomed.Who is it for?Whether looking to reconnect with the community, curious about Christian beliefs, or simply seeking a meaningful Sunday afternoon activity with others, Alpha is open to everyone.

There is no cost to attend, and there is no requirement to commit to the entire course—feel free to come along to the first session to experience it firsthand.
